Note from the editor.
Montgomery, Edward Davidson
THIS will be the last number of Romance Notes to be published under
my editorship. After seventeen years of editing the journal and, more
importantly, thirty-seven years teaching Romance Philology and French at
UNC-CH, I am retiring and have passed the editorship to my very capable
colleague, Monica Rector, Professor of Portuguese.
My years as Editor of Romance Notes have been most exciting--one of
the most rewarding aspects of my work in the Department of Romance
Languages and Literatures. I would therefore like to express my
appreciation to the many fine people who have been indispensable to the
overall effort--members of my Editorial and Advisory Boards, off-campus
readers and, especially, the extraordinary graduate editorial assistants
who have performed so efficiently during my stewardship.
In conclusion, I send greetings and thanks to our authors and
subscribers who are now found all over the world. In recent years,
Romance Notes has published articles from scholars in Europe, Asia,
Africa, Australia and New Zealand and, of course, the Americas.
