... and courses.
Our newest contributor to this issue of A&C, Deborah Lewer (see
p. 9) is also teaching a residential course, Ways of Seeing: Art and
Faith, at the wonderful Gladstone's Library near Chester. This
course will explore some great (and some less great) art from the Middle
Ages to the present and use seeing as a means to thinking--about faith,
about creativity, about politics and identity, about the rich life of
the imagination and about God.
Visit www.gladstoneslibrary.org, call the library on 01244 532350
or email enquiries@gladlib.org.
Iconographers-muralists Philip Davydov and Olga Shalamova of the St
Petersburg Sacred Murals will lead an icon-writing studio 16-20 May at
the Parish Centre, Abingdon-on-Thames in Oxfordshire. The five-day
course for beginners and practicing iconographers will focus on the face
of Christ-'Painting the Face of the Invisible God'. For more
information and registration go to www.sthelens-abingdon.org.uk
'The Hope within Us', or ring 01235 520144. The course will
combine technical instruction with supporting theory and theology.
