Editorial perspective.
Mishra, Sita
I am delighted to begin my responsibilities as editor of
'Paradigm'. My first goal is to clear the backlog at the
earliest and regularise upcoming volumes. We are making our sincere
efforts to accomplish this.
This issue of Paradigm focuses on various fields of management:
marketing, finance, HR, strategy etc. Each paper depicts serious
research orientation. The editorial board of Paradigm thanks all
researchers for their contribution and choosing Paradigm as a platform
to publish their valuable research work.
In marketing literature, it is well accepted that evaluations of
brand extensions depend on the quality of the parent brand and the fit
between that brand and the extension category. The paper by Bapat
examines the brand extensions for India Post into ban king sector and
determines factors that will decide the success of India Post into
banking. Another paper by Patel focuses on applicability of brand
personality concept in retail banking context.
Capital structure decisions are among the most imperative strategic
decisions a company can make. Any erroneous capital structure decision
can put the company into rigorous financial problems. The aim of Handoo
and Sharma's paper is to explore capital structure determinants and
examine the impact of various independent variables on dependent
variables for private and public sectors compan ies.
It is very inaccurate to assume that regulation will impel growth.
Mukhopadhyaya, Roy, and Raychaudhuri study examines how the distribution
of cement industry has changed across states due to the decontrol of
industry. Further, the study focuses on changing patterns of inequality
as well as concentration.
Last two papers add variety to this issue. Duggal's paper
contributes in area of housing finance sector. She measured the level of
competition of selected housing finance institutions in India. Paper by
Dikshit and Trivedi emphasise on efficacy of SCM practices in context of
cement industry. The study investigated the factors that are responsible
for significant relationship between organisational performance,
Competitive Edge and supply chain management practices.
The issue also includes a review of an interesting book "The
Idea of Justice" by Amartya Sen authored by Datta.
We hope that all papers published in this issue will add value to
management literature and admired by the academic fraternity. We look
forward to your valuable suggestions.
