The impact of the financial and economic crisis on the behaviour of organizations.

1. INTRODUCTION
The financial crisis currently takes up a great amount of time and
space in the Romanian media, but not only here, becoming a leitmotif in
everything that is performed from the level of organizations and up to
the highest government structures. The crisis is seen as a
"scarecrow", as a "bogeyman", which brings insomnia
to all the managers who are influenced by it. We are witnessing a
transformation of the behaviour of businessmen, economic agents, and
bankers et cetera, who, through their decisions, influence in a decisive
way the behaviour of the organizations' employees. (Bucur, 2002)
2. RESULTS
Nowadays, more and more organizations are forced to stop their
activity because of the current financial and economic crisis. In 2009,
in the county of Sibiu, over 15% of the organizations started after 2005
have gone bankrupt. The analysis of the life cycle emphasizes an ever
more concerning fact, connected to the stages naturally followed by any
organization or business. The aforementioned organizations which have
reached bankruptcy followed stages I and II in an unconventional way
and, because of the crisis (the increase of interest for credits and the
depreciation of the national currency as opposed to the European one),
they forced their way over stage III and were placed into stage IV, a
stage of decline (death). (Figure 1 and figure 2). (Cungi, 2003)

[FIGURE 2 OMITTED]
Note: Stage III, of maturity, is no longer representative in figure
2. The literature specialized in this field mentions a series of ways
through which some organizations survive and prosper, while others go
bankrupt and disappear (covered in debt and credits). The way in which
organizations solve the problems they are dealing with determines the
moment when they will pass from one stage of development to the next,
emphasizing their tendency to survive, develop and die. (Golman, 2001)
3. THE IMPACT OF THE FINANCIAL AND ECONOMIC CRISIS ON ORGANIZATIONS
In the case of the growth (development) of some organizations which
are in stage II, they can reach the tendency to maximize efficiency,
according to fig. 3, some actions, which aim to anticipate phenomena;
the organizations may fail, having their action directions embezzled.
[FIGURE 3 OMITTED]
One can observe that the efficiency of the organization is at its
maximum in point A, for a size S1 and it decreases for a size S2. The
current financial and economic crisis shows that small and medium
enterprises are among the first ones to be affected by it. The
organizations (the small and medium enterprises) which in 2008 were in a
continuous development are currently (in the first semester of 2009) in
a stage of decline, which can lead them to bankruptcy, because the
changes in the field are totally unfavourable to them. (Oprean &
Titu, 2008)

4. THE WEITYEL AND JONSON MODEL, UNDER THE IMPACT OF THE CRISIS
Under the impact of the crisis, the stages of the classic model of
organizational decline (fig. 4) go through significant changes,
according to fig. 5; the government measures ([alpha], [beta], [gamma],
[delta]) playing an important role. (Titu & Oprean, 2007)
5. CONCLUSION
From the analysis of the questionnaires, we have gathered a sum of
proposals, through which the respondents consider that the impact of the
crisis can be attenuated or eliminating. In this sense they mentioned a
series of opinions.
One can notice that the current financial and economic crisis has
created a state of "mobilization" of all the categories of
citizens of the country, no matter their field of activity, age or
social category. The 60 questionnaires that were filled in contain
enlightening answers and interesting proposals, some of which were
previously mentioned.
After the processing of the information in the questionnaires we
will expand the area of interpretation and we will announce the results.
