Dear Readers,
With great satisfaction, we are publishing the third number of the
scientific journal Acta Scientiarum: Language and Culture, vol. 38, for
2015, devoted to Literature. As in the previous number, half of the
articles are in English, aiming at the internationalization of our
journal so that our research work would be available to a greater number
of scholars. The journal enhances scientific research in Literary
Studies by widening its reception and repercussion of the articles
published.
The first article of current edition, "The Letter of The God
of Love (1399): The First Literary Quarrelling Set up by a Woman to be
Found in the French Language", analyzes the letter of Christine de
Pisan, written in the Middle Ages, in a struggle against the misogyny of
the Jean de Meun's Roman de la Rose. The second article, "Uma
poetica da imanencia: a escrita em Deleuze", gives an idea of the
poetics of immanence, in Deleuze's terms, as a counterpoint to
mimetic and representational poetics so that its outlines could be
defined and explored and to show its relevance for certain modern and
contemporary poetics. The next article, "Internos e internados:
educacao e memorialismo em Raul Pompeia e Vergilio Ferreira",
analyzes two novels, namely, O Ateneu (1888), by Raul Pompeia, and Manha
submersa (1954), by Vergilio Ferreira, in which the mechanisms of
educational control within the context in which they are inserted, are
problematized through memory. "Architectures of a Fragmented
Memory: Imprisonment and Liberation in W. G. Sebald's
Austerlitz", focusing on Sebald's Austerlitz (2001), deals
with the fragmented narrative, featuring several layers of relationships
and symbolic planes, on the story of Jacques Austerlitz. The authors
underscore two distinct instances in the narrative: one related to
confinement and to confined memories; the other related to freedom and
to released memories. It deals with the need to remember a traumatic
past and, in spite of the pain and misunderstandings, to witness it. The
next article, "O moderno e o contemporaneo: relacoes dialogicas
entre Poe e Vilela", is based on the Bakhtinian concept that a
discourse meets another and participates in a lively and tense
interactivity to describe the dialogic relationship between the
satirical short stories "Nunca aposte sua cabeca com o diabo--conto
moral", by Edgar Allan Poe, and "A cabeca", by Luiz
Vilela, of the homonymous work. Further, "The Discursive
Representation of Dictatorship in Lygia Bojunga's A casa da
madrinha", the authors investigate the text of the contemporary
Brazilian author from the perspective in revealing the ruptures from the
euphoric tradition of literary production of the 1940s and 1950s
dedicated to children and young people, and the manner these ruptures
are inserted within the work. The article "Das dores de crescimento
a dor de existir: representacoes literarias de adolescencias
feridas", is a comparative analysis of the novels Ilha Teresa
(2011), by Richard Zimler, and Lullabies for Little Criminals (2006), by
Heather O'Neill, within the "crossover fiction" model.
They have similarities at the narrative perspective centered on the
world of young people, on their growth process and the construction of
their identity. Although full of conflicts and problems, they recommend
an individual and/or social world of a dysphoric nature.
"Generacion del 27/ hip hop in 2007: cultural vanguard in
performance" is a comparative analysis of the production of the
Generation 27 and of the documentary Generacion 27--Creacion, vanguardia
y vida, of the Canal Sur da Andaluzia, Spain, as a tribute to the
Movement's 80th birthday. Moreover, the article "Nao ha amor
que suporte tanta falta: uma analise de The Magic Tower, de Tennessee
Williams", investigates the 1930 play The Magic Tower, and shows
how the playwright inserted in his one-act plays the discussions related
to the social and historical milieu of the US which was at that time
experiencing the Great Depression after the breakdown of the New York
Stock Exchange in 1929. The last article, "O teatro atualiza a
historia: mediacoes entre o Materialismo Historico de Benjamin e a peca
'Auto dos Bons Tratos', da Cia do Latao", based on epic
theater and on the relationship between literature and the processes of
historicity, analyzes the play Auto dos Bons Tratos (2002), by Cia do
Latao, a representative group within the social and historical context
of the remaking of the epic theater in Brazil.
Current number also gives a book review on Contrapontos da
literatura indigena contemporanea no Brasil, by Graca Grauna (Belo
Horizonte, Mazza, 2013).
We wish our readers a splendid reading. Let's hope that these
articles would be inspiring for further research in literature.
