摘要:This article is the outcome of an investigation which aimed at analyzing the strategic adaptation process of a high education institution based on the Institutional Theory. It is a qualitative, longitudinal case study. Data were obtained from primary as well as secondary sources. Data analysis was carried out in a descriptive-interpretative way, thus allowing the identification of 14 critical events during the organization’s lifetime and those events were grouped under 6 strategic periods. In general, the adaptation of the organization showed variations from one strategic period to another. The importance of organizational leadership and their “rationalized myths” is stressed in this process. Stakeholders’ relevance varied for the different phases of the organization’s lifetime and so did management style and the organization’s strategic behavior. The case displays strong correlations with the Institutional Theory.
