摘要:This article is an interpretation of the discourses about their others that intellectuals produced during the second half of the 19th century, in what today is Colombia. Through the critical reading of the writings produced by these scholars, it clearly appears how the writing of prehispanic history of Colombia was transformed into a battlefield and a key practice for the elaboration of a discourse about the nation. In this way, representing the natives of the past turned into a debate about the present and the future of the republic. Lastly, this article suggests that this discursive production can be divided into two big moments, which are not completely opposed to one another, nor are they internally homogeneous.
