Letter from CEA and the journal editor.
Justice, Denise ; Steurer, Stephen J. ; Dowdell, John J. 等
There are two important announcement s regarding the Journal of
Correctional Education that we would like to share with CEA members.
First, the Journal publishes a "Special Topics" issue
every June. This issue enables Journal and CEA leadership to focus on an
issue of special importance to the field of correctional education and
to invite research and writing on the topic. The CEA Publication
Committee approved the following topics for the next three years at the
July CEA board meeting.
June 2009 Jail and Community Correction Initiatives in Correctional
Education
June 2010 Graduate Student Contributions to Correctional Education
June 211 Teaching 21st Century Skills in Correctional Education
We highly encourage prospective authors to consider their research
and writing agendas in light of these special topics and to submit work
to be considered in these issues.
The second major announcement from Journal and CEA staff is that we
will be initiating manuscript review and publication fees for the
Journal of Correctional Education, effective October 1, 2008. Most
professional organizations which support academic research in their
field by publishing a Journal are experiencing the economic reality of
rising printing and publication costs. CEA and the Journal of
Correctional Education are not immune to these financial pressures. At
the recommendation of the Publication Committee, the CEA Board voted to
implement the following schedule of fees for the Journal of Correctional
Education.
Manuscript Review Fee--This fee will be required to be paid by the
author at the time of submission of their manuscript to the Journal
editorial board.
$ 75.00 for non-CEA members
Fee waived for CEA members (individual, student, volunteer or
retiree)
Publication Fee--This fee will be charged to authors when their
manuscript has been approved for publication in the Journal of
Correctional Education and must be received by CEA prior to printing of
the respective article.
$ 250.00 for non-CEA members
$ 50.00 for CEA members (individual, student, volunteer or retiree)
It is important to note that the fees above will only be used to
support the publication of the Journal. Journal reviewers are invited
volunteers on the Journal Editorial Board and are not compensated for
their work.
Thank for your continued support of the Journal of Correctional
Education. We trust that this new fee structure will not adversely
impact our publication and will, in fact, help draw authors into CEA
membership and greater involvement in our professional community.
