Editorial.
Absalom, Matthew
It is with great pleasure that I return to the editorship of Babel
and bring you this double issue dedicated to the highly successful
#AFMLTA2015 held at my university, The University of Melbourne, in July
2015. As Anne-Marie Morgan, the conference's Academic Chair,
highlights in her report, #AFMLTA2015 clearly created a 'buzz'
among conference delegates through its discussion of pedagogies for a
plurilingual Australia.
This double issue opens with a transcript of Jane Orton's
Keith Horwood Memorial Lecture. The Horwood Lecture is an integral part
of each AFMLTA national languages conference and the topic of powerful
pedagogies certainly does justice to Keith Horwood's memory as an
untiring champion of languages.
Other contributions to this volume demonstrate the good work going
on around the country with descriptions of initiatives coming from
Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia.
Please enjoy this conference edition of Babel and start preparing
for #AFMLTA2017 on the Gold Coast in July, 2017.
