Foreword.
Ewing, Robyn
It gives me great pleasure to conclude my ALEA presidency--twenty
years after the then ALEA President, Marie Emmitt, wrote the foreword
for the first edition of Practically Primary--by writing a parallel
piece for this special twentieth anniversary edition. At the recent
AATE/ALEA Canberra conference we celebrated the journal's twentieth
birthday with a name change that reflects where the journal sits today.
It continues to complement the regular publications of the Australian
Journal of Language and Literacy and Literacy Learning: The Middle
Years.
Warmest congratulations to the current editorial team and the teams
who, over the years, have put together high quality editions that have
resulted in this journal becoming a popular and well-used resource by
teachers all over Australia and beyond. This birthday edition contains
some wonderful reflections of ALEA members who have made strong
contributions to the literacy education community for decades.
I am confident that members will continue to share their ideas
through the journal so that wonderful classroom practices can be
accessed and implemented by colleagues all around Australia.
Best wishes
Robyn Ewing, ALEA President
