The aim of the study is to examine the discrepancies existing in
Basic Education in Khartoum state. The study focuses on the relation
between performance and learning environment. The objectives of the
study highlight the variation among the schools and examine the
schools' activities and the learning environment. The method used
for data collection was observation check lists for ten schools existing
in Khartoum State and questionnaires for thirty teachers and thirty
parents. The study covered private, international and government
schools. The data were then analyzed and interpreted to illustrate the
linkage between the learning environment and the performance and to
reflect the situation in the different schools.
The findings of this study reflect that students in schools
providing an appropriate environment display high performance and
success rates and students at schools of poor and deteriorating
environments demonstrate low Performance and success rates. The findings
of the study revealed wide discrepancies in basic education. It also
shows the deterioration in government schools as the result of low
government spending. In conclusion, some gaps are cited and some ideas
for addressing the issue by sharing responsibility are recommended.
