An important message to all subscribers.
Malone, Paul M.
As the journal's new editor, I regret that I must announce
changes to the journal's subscription rates, to take effect with
Volume XIII, to be published in the summer of 2002. In a time when
inflation, rising costs of postage, the sinking value of the Canadian
dollar on world markets, and ongoing cuts in institutional support have
made the publication of a scholarly journal financially challenging to
begin with, this is an additional burden that the journal simply cannot
afford. We see no option but to change our pricing scheme in line with
current practice among many other journals published in Canada, in order
to ensure the viability of the journal and to prevent compromising the
quality which we believe Germano-Slavica represents.
Beginning with the 2002 issue (Volume XIII), the subscription rates
will be as follows:
* Institutions within Canada CDN $15.00, institutions outside
Canada US $15.00
* Individuals within Canada CDN $10.00, individuals outside Canada
US $10.00
* Back issues: within Canada CDN $10.00; outside Canada US $10.00
* All Canadian orders are subject to the Goods and Services Tax.
We believe that in the present climate, these relatively minor
changes will have little impact on individual or institutional
subscribers, and we hope that we can count on their continued support
and mandate as we near the journal's thirtieth anniversary in 2003.
