This book is a critical appraisal of India's policies in the
field of agriculture and rural development. The analysis examines the
institutional, technological and economic aspects of the country's
agricultural and rural development policies for the past thirty-five
years. The drawback pointed out by the author is that the country
followed a less than holistic approach in agriculture and rural
development. Policies were fragmented and unbalanced. However, a
holistic approach, as suggested by the author, would lead to economic
growth and the elimination of poverty.
The book will be of special relevance to administrators and
policy-makers In the field of agriculture and rural development.
