Pictures collection adds to its holdings of photographer, Robin Smith.

Twenty-one colour slides, purchased recently for the Pictures Collection from well-known Australian photographer Robin Smith, have been loaded to the Pictures Catalogue. Probably best known for his photography books such as Portrait of Australia and Australia in Colour, Robin has contributed a number of images to the Pictures Collection over the years. During his extensive travels within Australia he has photographed Indigenous Australians, agriculture and industry, and activities ranging from cattle mustering to yabby racing. The latest batch of his works includes the image Hermannsburg Aboriginal Land Trust Boundary Notice, Northern Territory, 1996, in which an apparently simple shot of a sign and its surroundings encapsulates a number of issues.
