Second amendment unlimited.
Sullivan, Patrick J.
Marc Cooper wrote a pretty good article about gun control
["Gun Control is a Misfire," March/April]. Unfortunately, as
with most liberals, he demonizes the NRA. As a life member, I find the
NRA to be a reasonable organization that advocates for Second Amendment
rights. Nowhere in the Second Amendment is there mention of universal
background checks, registration in a national database, or liability
insurance for guns.
The NRA forces no one to join. The four million members may be
crackpots to Mr. Cooper and his ilk, but I'm willing to wager that
a substantial number of his shooting buddies belong to the NRA, and many
of the other shooters he knows sympathize with the organization. If
leftists can organize and repeal the Second Amendment in a
constitutional manner, then the government can curb the right to bear
arms. Of course, that won't happen any time soon, not with the NRA
and its many supporters on guard.
