摘要：Analysis of the concept of language in the Epistles of the Brethren of Purity through a phenomenological reduction which unveils a functionalist approach expressed in emanatist terms. The article also outlines an understanding of the linguistic sign as composed of acoustic matter and intellectual meaning, without any direct relationship to extralinguistic reality. Language is conceived as a criterion of full humanity.
