摘要:The current debate on the transformations that affect citizenship in contemporary societies seems to pay little attention to the changes that are taking place in those spaces –geographical and virtual- in which citizen practices develop. Nevertheless, the spatial dimension outstands in the discussion on the characteristics and effects of globalization. From this starting point, this paper aims to stress the relevance of studying the demonstration –understood as an expression of the politics of contention-, as a singular event in which the complexity of the old and new repertoires employed by old and new actors, in old and new spaces should be analyzed. For this purpose, the demonstration against the war that took place in Madrid on February the 15th, 2003, is chosen as a case study.
