  • 摘要:Current years have witnessed the emergence ofwireless sensor networks (WSNs) as a new informationgatheringparadigm, in which a large number of sensorsscatter over a examination field and extract data of interestsby reading real-world phenomena from the physicalenvironment. Energy consumption becomes a primaryconcern in a WSN, as it is crucial for the network tofunctionally operate for an probable period of time. TheWSN’s extraordinary characteristics direct us to innovativeresearch challenges in some data mining process. Datamining is one of the most important methods by whichuseful patterns in data with minimal user interference areknown and available information of users and analysts tomake decisions relayed on their vital organizations to adopt.Data mining, as the continuance of multiple intertwineddisciplines, consisting statistics, machine learning, patternrecognition, database systems, information retrieval, World-Wide Web, visualization, and lots of application domains,has made great progress in the past decade. To ensure thatthe advances of data mining research and technology willcompetently benefit the progress of science and engineering,it is important to scrutinize the challenges on data miningposed in data-intensive science and engineering and explorehow to further develop the technology to assist newdiscoveries and advances in science and engineering. InWSNs, hierarchical network structures have the advantageof supplying scalable and energy efficient solutions
