摘要:In this paper, we report a new surfactant (1-tetradecyl-2-(tetradecylthio)-1H-benzimidazole (T1)) derived from 2-mercaptobenzimidazole acting as a carbon steel corrosion inhibitor was synthesized. The molecule structure was confirmed by means of chemical ionization of mass spectrometry, 1 H and 13 C nuclear magnetic resonance. EIS and potentiodynamic polarization measurements as well as scanning electron microscopy were used to evaluate the corrosion inhibition of T1 for C-steel in HCl. The results of EIS indicate the increase of transfer resistance with the increase of inhibitor concentration. Electrochemical measurements indicate that T1 is a mixed type inhibitor. It has been found that the studied compounds adsorb onto carbon steel according to the modified Langmuir adsorption isotherm and the kinetic/thermodynamic isotherm of El-Awady. The inhibition mechanism was explored by the potential of zero charge (Epzc) measurement at the solution/metal interface. Dynamic simulation indicates the possibility of gradual substitution of water molecules from the surface of iron surface.
