摘要:This paper is part of a strategic research project that aimed to assess the effectiveness of thedesign and use of new software for Arabic language learning (ALL). However, the focus of thispaper is to understand Arabic teachers’ perceptions of the effectiveness of the software that wasdesigned purposely by the project’s team to facilitate ALL at Omani Basic Education schools.More specifically, by using two methods, a focus group interview and semi-structured interviews,this qualitative study attempted to reflect on the ways in which using software technology ischanging the profession of Arabic language teaching and learning (ALTL). The sample of thefocus group interview consisted of 12 Arabic female teachers from Muscat Basic Educationschools. Nine of them participated in semi-structured interviews. These interviews investigatedthe perceived degree of the effectiveness and obstacles of using the Arabic language (AL)software in teaching the Arabic language (TAL) along with the teachers’ perceptions forincreasing its effectiveness. Overall, findings indicate that teachers perceived the designedsoftware as an effective tool to promote students’ learning and to deal with their learningdifficulties. However, some factors that seemed to influence the implementation of this software,and some improvement elements were suggested by these teachers to increase the level of theeffectiveness of this software
