Drawing on professors’ examples, literary neuroscience, and myexperience as an author of sociological fiction and editor of the Social Fictions bookseries, I suggest how fiction can be used to foster critical thinking, consciousnessraising,forge micro-macro connections, engage learners in deep reflection, teachsubstantive content, and promote understanding and empathy across differences
