摘要：The subject of the research is a technological potential of EuropeanEconomies at macroeconomic level. The main aim of the article is toassess relative position and eventual progress in that sphere obtainedby Central European economies that joined the EuropeanUnion after the year 2004. Additional goal of the research is to verifyusefulness of variables that can be used in measurement of technologicalpotential at macroeconomic level in European economieswith application of multiple criteria decision analysis methodology.In the research the phenomenon of technological potential wastreated as a multivariate problem. Thus, in order to measure it themultiple criteria decision analysis approach based on the Techniquefor Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) wasapplied. The research was conducted with application of EurostatData and diagnostic variables proposed for measurement of technologicalpotential at macro level in European members states. It wasdone for the years 2008-2012. The applied procedure of verificationof information value of potential diagnostic variables enabled toselect six final diagnostic variables. The conducted research enabledto point the European leaders, which can be treated asbenchmark countries and the source of good practices in the processof forming policy guidelines aiming at supporting technologicaldevelopment. The research showed significant progress obtained bysome new European Union members states, which confirms modernizationprocess of Central European economics
