摘要:The purpose of this article is to analyze stereotypes under the perspective of education, based on some of the concepts formulated by the Russian scholar Mikhail Bakhtin, including the concept of dialogism and the relation between the “self” and “the other” in the continuous construction and reconstruction of identity. In order to further understand these imaginary representations and the effective application of the above mentioned bakhtinian concepts, an introduction of an article written by Wingfield and Karaman (1995) entitled “Arabic Stereotypes and American Educators” will be the object of analysis. The text allows us to analyze how stereotypes are created, passed on, and how dialogism and the relation between the “self” and “the other” work for the construction of identity.
