  • 摘要:Objective: To analyse mental health policies in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Bulgaria and to evaluate whether conditions for successful mental health policy are present in these countries. Methods: The country-specific information was obtained by a mental health policy questionnaire that was developed by the research team. Results: Eastern European mental health policies went through many changes. In all four countries, there is an effort to prepare strategic mental health documents; mental health legislation is present and developing; non-governmental sector is active; solidarity-based financing was preserved and includes mental health services; the core information and research capacities survived transformation; the data systems require improvement; and local initiatives and experiments represent a promise for future. Conclusion: There is an opportunity to formulate and implement mental health reforms directed at modern mental health services in all four countries. The necessary conditions for success are present. However, we are not able to predict if these positive conditions will be used by societies and governments for mental health services improvement.
