摘要：Abstract Increasing role of police both in social life and in state over the last decades has made the accurate and scientific measure of the police performance compulsory. In this study, performance appraisal systems of selected United States Law Enforcements were evaluated and compared to the Turkish National Police (TNP) performance appraisal system. Sample form was developed and delivered to 1009 TNP members to obtain their opinions about the potential indicators of performance appraisal system. In the light of the outcomes of this study and other academic and practical works, Turkish National Police Performance Appraisal System was put into effect at the beginning of 2013.
