摘要：Scientific journals are kind of periodical publications that target to support the development of science by publishing new researches which have been evaluated by at least 2 on-the-field-expert mediators. In order to serve its purposes scientific articles in scientific journals, all parts of the essay (abstract, base text, figures/tables, reference list), should be written as readable and comprehensible as much. . This situation is related with the term "legibility". Legibility is indeed related with technical properties and Typography. Depending on this point of view, the subject of the research determined as "determining the legibility levels in terms of typographic features of the scientific journal articles publishing in Turkey based upon the academicians' opinions". As part of the research, 19 scientific journals published within at Gazi University have been chosen and 17 questionnaires were presented to academicians about articles of these journals' legibility levels. Survey questions have been taken from the part of text-design of Visual-Design Standards Scale which has been developed by Alphan. 6 journals were evaluated within the scope of the research. On the evaluation of the data collected, arithmetical average, standard variations and odd-factor variation technical analyse were used. As a result of the research, it has been pointed out that 4 of scientific journals had middle and 2 of them have high level of legibility. Keywords: Legibility, Typography, Scientific Journal
