摘要:Abstract The purpose of this study is to search teachers' skills of how to solve problems in terms of some variables. The population of this study includes all teachers who have taught in 2011-2012 in Gaziantep, Turkey. The people in this study consist of 159 teachers ( 83 men , 76 women ) who were chosen randomly. As a tool for data collection , ' personal information form ' and ' problem solving inventory ' developed by Heppner and Peterson (1982 ) and adapted to Turkish by Şahin and Heppner ( 1993) have been used. Cronbach Alpha reliability factor has been calculated .86 for the whole scale and between .66 and .76 for sub dimensions. At the end of the study, there has not been a significant differentiation in teachers' problem solving inventory scores according to their genders and branches. Despite this, there has been a significant differentiation in evaluative approach according to educational level and hasty approach and self-confidence approach according to service time. Based on the results of the research it is suggested that the Ministry of National Education should promote postgraduate education and also should organize in-service education to improve problem solving abilities of teachers.
