摘要:Abstract The purpose of this study is to reveal how teachers regard the use of personal records, a well-established staff evaluation system in Turkish educational system, to detect the flaws and shortcomings of the use of personal records on the basis of teachers' opinions, and to contribute to the attempts to come up with new staff evaluation systems. The population of the study is comprised of the teachers who worked for the state-run primary schools in the centre of Antalya during the Educational Year 2009-2010. 367 of The teachers participated in the study. The data collection tool was a 5-point Likert-type survey. As for the reliability, the Cronbach's alpha was 0.93. Arithmetic mean, t-test and variance analysis (one-way) were employed for data analysis and interpretation. Branch teachers have a more positive view of personal records than classroom teachers. The teachers somewhat agreed that personal records have an effect on their morale and job satisfaction, and positive personal records motivate them and increase their performance. They somewhat disagreed that personal records are arranged fairly, properly or objectively. Not all civil servants should be exposed to the same evaluation form.
