摘要：Abstract The main purpose of this research is to determine the effects of studying skills o on academic success of the students and retention of the knowledge. This research was designed in true experimental model. The data which was used in this research was collected by the multiple choice test which was developped by the researchers. The treatment and control group of this research consisted of forty students who were eight grades between the ages 13-15, in the school year 2009-2010 in the State Primary School in Arnavutköy - İstanbul. According to the result of the pre-tests and post-tests, between the treatment and control groups, there were not significant differences. Whereas the results of the retention test showed significant differences. Key words: Study skills, Effective Learning, Academic Success
