摘要:Abstract The purpose of this study is to carry out a semiotic analysis of the poems and pictures by primary school students. The study was conducted with 15 3rd grade students of a primary school. Data of this arts-based research were collected with poems and pictures by students and semi-structured interviews. The findings showed that the students were able to express a given idiom with its metaphorical meaning and include both subjective and cultural values in both poems and pictures, the sign, signifier and signified used by the students were similar and they often emphasized social acceptance. The findings from this study are expected to be beneficial in determining students' perception of both their inner worlds and their environment and culture with a different method so that teachers can enhance their techniques to diagnose their teaching and students with a semiotic approach.
