摘要:The purpose of this study is to examine perceptions of Turks in Belgium about their identity and their sense of belonging, transnational aspects of their identities in the sample of the people who have Emirdag and Posof origins. In order to collect data, qualitative and quantitative research techniques were used. Living in Belgium, 55 people were interviewed and 424 people were surveyed. The researcher spent a 9-month research visit to Belgium, conducted participatory observations and took photos in the field. Data from in-depth interview and participatory observation techniques, as well as data from SPSS analyses were analyzed and interpreted on the basis of literature and in line with purposes of the study. Findings show that they define themselves primarily and mostly as a “Turk’’ not as “Belgian Turks.” It’s seen that defining themselves as Turk is caused by the efforts aimed at existing in Belgium along with their own culture.
