  • 摘要:Abstract This study examines, through the literature review, the concept of teacher autonomy and its different dimensions and functions. Even though the international literature on teacher autonomy is considerably developed, there are a few studies on this subject in Turkey. This conceptual analysis aims to contribute to developing the researches in this field in Turkey. The concept of the teacher autonomy refers essentially to the space of the freedom and power ensured to teachers in theirs professional activities. The teacher autonomy concerns not only the teaching activities, but also the organisation of the working environment and the school management. Therefore the teacher autonomy is one of the key-concepts for the comprehension and improvement of the teachers' role in education.
