摘要:This article consists on the sport and leisure practices and representations found in the Paraná Norte newspaper (1934-1937) of the Londrina city, State of Paraná, Brazil. As a methodological resource this article was based on the periodical press research (Cruz & Peixoto, 2007). The historical research source was the Paraná Norte newspaper; the research was supported on Elias and Dunning’s understandings of sport and leisure (1992). The results indicated the practices of sport and leisure underwent a change of sense in their selves, they represented elements of urban development and progress in a journalistic context of coffee producing lands; wealth regarded as "green gold."
