摘要:Megalithic structures at Northern Amapá may be described as assemblages of granitic blocks placed on hill tops in different arrangements. Since 2005, a research project developed by IEPA (Ins-tituto de Pesquisas Científicas e Tecnológicas do Estado do Amapá) has one of its major goals to gather empirical data for analyzing archaeological phenomena associated to such structures. Besides new megalithic structures, various other types of sites were recorded, providing the first insights on the links between megalithic sets and surrounding landscapes. Excavations were done at one well preserved megalithic structure, allowing for new interpretations on the nature and function of this kind of site.
