摘要:The aim of this paper is to study the notion of cinemadevicein political documentary films. Its definition andeffect constitute the problem to be investigated. The wayin which this device works is described, consideringit a mechanism for the construction of meaning thatselects and organizes into a hierarchy the elements ofreality expressed in the screen, applying to that enddifferent assessment criteria. The starting point is thepremise that political documentary film is a film genrecomposed around narrative, expressive, stylistic andparticular argumentative forms. Considering thatapproach, it is suggested that the political documentaryis a political-ideological practice – based on the ideaof promise – that aims either to impose an alternativemodel of society or to endorse the social dominantparadigm through a process of veridiction. This processis described as an agreement between narrator andrecipient of the communication, in which it is definedwhat is real inside the narrated world. This in turntenses the true-false relationship, so as to causeadhesion or rejection in the spectator’s conscience.
