摘要:Managing is one of the most important human activities in the context of organizations, Venezuela's political and economic situation has made of management a very demanding function in order to achieve organizations objectives, thus the importance of studying the key success factors needed for managers to be successful in their mission. This article presents a review of the initial concepts of management as an activity, its evolution and how the Venezuelan manager exercises it today. The research was documental, based on bibliographic and electronic references from authors on the subject. The fi ndings are presented in three sections: the fi rst gathers historical aspects of the development of management, initial and modern approaches from the principal researchers of management and managerial tools; the second illustrates the situation of the Venezuelan environment and characterization of the Venezuelan manager; and the third deals with the current and future positions for management of organizations in Venezuela. Conclusions highlight the importance of learning management as an object of academic study, to help train professionals with the necessary skills to successfully lead organizations in today's complex Venezuelan environment.
