摘要：O artigo deriva de nossas reflexões em tese de doutoramento apresentada em desembro de 2010 à Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Discute a modernidade enquanto modo de viver e pensar ocidental que impôs sua hegemonia ao longo dos últimos séculos. Aos demais povos, transformados em "outro" no processo histórico, restou a submissão ou a exclusão pura e simples; são os "exóticos" e atrasados", que não participaram da formação do que é chamado de "civilização". A abordagem interdisciplinar conferida ao conceito de modernidade nos permitiu concluir: o quadro de mudanças sociais e de paradigmas que temos diante de nossos olhos implica uma nova agenda de pesquisas em ciência humanas. Studies on modernity: a new agenda for research in the humanities Abstract This article results of our reflections on doctoral thesis present in December/2010 to the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). It discusses modernity as a western way of living and thinking that imposed its hegemony over the past centuries. To the other people, turned into “other” in the historical process, remained the submission or outright exclusion, they are the “exotic “and “backward” not involved in the formation of what is called “civilization “. The interdisciplinary approach given to the concept of modernity allowed us to conclude that: the framework of social and paradigm changes that we have suggests a new agenda for researches in the human science.
