摘要:Soil degradation by erosion and the extreme flood events that can be associated to them can affect rural and urban lands. We aimed to prepare a map of soil vulnerability to degradation at the Campinas municipality, São Paulo state, Brazil, using Geographic Information System (SIG) and applying an ecodinamics-based methodology. The five classes of soil vulnerability defined by geology, geomorphology, pedology, and land use and cover were Stable, Moderately Stable, Medium Stable/Vulnerable, and Moderately Vulnerable. Medium stable/vulnerable was the most representative vulnerability class, occupying 557.9 km 2 , what represents 70.75 % of the municipality territory. The second most representative class was moderately stable, with an extension of 145.4 km 2 (18 % of the municipality). Application of this method was feasible for preparing the map of environmental vulnerability, that can be used to public land management and shows the soil susceptibility to degradation.
