摘要:Walking is a great health promotion strategy due its beneficial effects. Objetive this study was identify the prevalence of walking for leisure and for commuting to work and their association with sociodemographic factors among 47,477 Brazilian workers. Walking and sociodemographic factors were obtained for self-reported questionnaire. Poisson regression models were used. Among men, walking for leisure was higher in most older, living with a partner, with higher education and income, who worked in Southeast region of Brazil. In commuting was more prevalent among single men, with lower education and income, South workers. In women, walking for leisure was more common in those living partner, without children, South workers. There was a direct association of the outcome with age, education and family income. In commuting was more prevalent among most older, without partner, with lower education and income, South workers. Walking was associated with sociodemographic characteristics, with differences between sexes.
