摘要:The purpose of this study was check the physiological responses and the rating of perceived exertion (RPE) in deep water running accomplished in different cadences (cad) and movements of the upper limbs (UL). The sample consisted of 12 healthy women (21 - 24 years age). The experimental procedure was performed in three sessions. In the first session the corporal measures were accomplished. In the other sessions the tests aquatic submaximal were achieved with the measures of heart rate (HR), oxygen uptake (VO2), ventilation (Ve), energetic expenditure (EE) and RPE, with minimum interval of 48 hours. Each aquatic session was performed in diferents cadences (cad), 60 or 80 bpm, whose order was randomized, with 3 tests in deep water running, each one accomplished for 4 minutes with a certain movement of the upper limbs (UL): resistant (RES), propulsion (PRO) and neutral (NEU), randomized and performed with 20 minutes of rest. ANOVA Two-way was used, with p<0.05 (SPSS v 11.0). It was verified differences statiscally significant among the cadences for all the variables (HR, VO2, Ve, EE and RPE: p <0.0001), with highest values for 80 bpm. Differences statiscally significant were observed among UL, with higher values for the movement PRO (HR: p=0.031; VO2: p=0.009; Ve: p=0.004, EE: p=0.017 and RPE: p=0.004). There was not significant interaction between cadence and UL for none of the analyzed variables. The use of different UL in deep water running exercises influence the physiological responses and RPE, as well as the use of different execution rhythms.
