摘要：Resumo: O fato de Platão escrever uma obra literária apresenta uma série de desafios para o leitor interessado na compreensão de seu pensamento. O primeiro e mais óbvio desafio está ligado ao fato de Platão não figurar entre os personagens dos diálogos. Caso encontrássemos Platão nas ações ali descritas, estaríamos na condição de, simplesmente, identificar tudo aquilo que um determinado personagem diz como a posição do autor. No entanto, a ausência de Platão nas cenas dramáticas descritas na sua obra nos deixa sem a possibilidade de uma solução direta para este problema interpretativo fundamental: como acessar a posição de Platão acerca das discussões representadas nos diálogos? Como sabemos, ao longo da história, foram criados diferentes métodos de organização e leitura dos diálogos com o objetivo de superar este desafio e permitir ao leitor dos diálogos o acesso ao pensamento de Platão. O presente artigo pretende realizar uma análise crítica do surgimento e estabelecimento do mais recente e ainda mais aceito paradigma de organização e interpretação da obra de Platão. Através da análise das teses dos principais comentadores responsáveis pela criação do paradigma atual de leitura dos diálogos, o artigo pretende refletir sobre as qualidades, vícios e defeitos inerentes ao nosso modo de ler Platão. Palavras‑chave: Platão, Diálogos, Cronologia. Abstract: The fact that Plato adopted a literary form of writing presents a great number of challenges to the reader interested in his philosophy. The greatest of these challenges follows from the fact that Plato himself is not one of his characters. If we could find Plato among the characters of his dialogues, it would be easy for us to identify his positions. However, Plato’s absence of the dramatic scenes he depicted leaves us without an easy solution for this fundamental problem: how to access Plato’s positons and thought about the many themes debated in the dialogues? Throughout history, different methods of reading and organizing Plato’s work were developed in order to deal with this problem and to give to the reader of the dialogues an access to Plato’s thoughts and positions. This paper aims to present an assessment of the development of the latest, and still widely adopted, paradigm of reading Plato’s work. Through the analysis of the major commentators responsible for the establishmentnof the current paradigm of organization and reading of Plato’s dialogues, the paper aims to reflect on the qualities, vices, and prejudices inherent to our way of reading Plato.
