摘要：It want to show that the fratricidal war of the Contestado in the second decade of the twentieth century, it introduces in the context of the expansion of colonization in Santa Catarina’s country. During this period, it was commonly thought that its huge areas, “otiose” and “poorly utilized,” they were colonized by individuals who contributed to put Brazil on track to modernity. The representations constructed wanted mischaracterize the local population and defend the colonizers, white Europe migrants. One of the aspects of these representations is anchored in the idea of work assigned to different groups. The war helped to strengthen the representations and to create conditions that promoted the colonization process.
