摘要:The waters of the streams that are part of the hydrographic basin of Apeú, in the Northeast of the state of Pará, comprise the areas of Castanhal (70%), Inhangapi (10%) and Santa Izabel do Pará (20%) towns. These waters are intensely used by the populations close to the river and small farmers. The aim of this research was to examine accelerated erosion caused by human activities, which contribute to the changes of the morphology of the rain water gullies that are part of the microbasin. In order to measure erosion, the Poles methodology was used; to measure the marginal erosion, the Pins and Poles methodology were used, while the physical-chemical analyses of the sediments of the erosion and of the riverbeds were carried out by the techniques described by Guimarães et al. (1970), EMBRAPA (1997) and Silva (1999). Depth measurements were obtained by the use of a windlass when measuring the water drain out in the cross-sections of the streams. According to these results, soil losses due to erosion were about 64,02 m during the period from October 2002 to July 2003. The Apeú stream, which is the microbasin’s principal one, and normally goes throughout 50 m inside Morro Verde farm, did not follow its normal course due to the production of sediments and lines, and then it is deviated to the Buriti farm. In the less rainy season this same stream, in Macapazinho Agro-village, average course, the water level reached 0,5 m, while in the rainy season it amounted to 3,0 m. There is a predominance of bed cargo in the streams.
