摘要:Sarmiento was the source of a historiographic discourse that spread beyond Argentina's frontiers. From the young Sarmiento of Facundo to the old man of Conflicto y armonia ( Conflict and harmony ), the search for the roots of the Argentine problem was always there. The article analyzes the changes that took place in that search - a struggle that at first appeared to be political, ended up being clearly social. Changes that caused literary practice to be abandoned in part, for the authoritative set up of the rigid scientific schemes of his time. Key-words: Race; National Conformation; Liberal Ideology, Argentine Historiography.
