摘要：The article discusses the context of musical modernism in Brazil in the decades of 1940 and 1950 and its relation to the activities of two contemporary musicians: Eunice Katunda and Esther Scliar. The characteristics of two main groups: “Grupo Música Viva” and the nationalists are addressed in the discussion of the manifests by “Grupo Música Viva” and the work of Mário de Andrade. In addition, their ascendance on musicians of the time is reflected on the professional activities of both Katunda and Scliar. Hence, individual experience is related to cultural context.
