摘要:This study is an abbreviated version of the Master thesis in Piano Performance by Francisco K. Wildt, concluded in May, 2004. It presents a practical application of Rebecca Payne Shockley’s principle of mapping music (Mapping Music: for Faster Learning and Secure Memory, 1997) in the memorization of a non-tonal work. The study discusses the importance of memorization in piano performance and teaching the instrument, as well as a demonstration of the application of this principle through examples. In this practical approach, the goal is to contribute to the development of systematic processes of memorization in piano practice. The work chosen was Sonatina No. 3 by Juan Carlos Paz, composed in 1933.
