摘要:This paper aims to study the life of the Brazilian clarinetist Antonio Luis de Moura (c. 1820-1889), who was the first clarinet professor at Imperial Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro – the main city of the Imperial Brazil – starting in 1855 until his death in 1889. The main objective is to discuss, throughout the pertinent bibliography and historical documents, his qualities as a musician and as a clarinet teacher who influenced Francisco Manuel da Silva – the Conservatory`s Principal – to appoint him to that position, among other names.
