摘要：Keyword: Analysis, Performance, Windows Vista, Ubuntu Linux, DOD. ABSTRACT In this age of globalization, computerization has an important role. Not just for individuals, but also for the organization or group. Computerization can help in solving problems. Computerization has facilities - facilities such as software and hardware builders. In order to use a computer must use an operating system therein. There are various kinds of operating systems, such products - products from Windows, Linux and Mac. Basically, the operating system has the same functions and parts. What distinguishes the advantages and disadvantages of each - each in usability and design looks. For example, Windows XP is easy to access applications, Linux RedHat has an extra strong in its Internet network. The operating system also are of two kinds, open source and licensed. Examples of open source oparesi system is Ubuntu Linux. And example of a licensed operating system is Windows Vista. The author aims to analyze application usage between the two operating systems namely Windows Vista and Ubuntu Linux as its use in the performance comparison on an organizational institution. In this writing takes the Department of National Defence as a place to conduct research / analysis. We will see the effects of both the operating system in the development of performance in DoD. From the results of this analysis will be known advantages and disadvantages of each - each operating system in terms of their use of functions within an organization whether beneficial or detrimental. The result will be a graph obtained from the results of a questionnaire distributed to employees in the Department of Defense and interviews. And other reports that reinforce the results of this analysis. The tools used to create applications that this paper is Matlab 7:04.
