  • 摘要:In wireless communication system, antenna plays as an important component for radiating and receiving the radio waves, where at transmission end and receiving end, respectively. Particularly, the microstrip antennas, which are in the form of integrated circuit, are decisive one to possess the major characteristics of antenna. In this work, a novel design for microstrip antenna is proposed. The design is determined by optimal selection of dimensions, which represent the length and width, of the antenna structure. To optimize the dimensions, Artificial Bee Colony algorithm is proposed in our work. The designed antenna is suitable for the WLAN and WiMAX applications. The experimental results demonstrated that the designed antenna gives ideal radiation characteristics over the operating bands. Subsequently, the performance is compared in detail with the existing designs.
