摘要:The article presents the personnel structure of the Russian army in the Caucasus in the period of 1830-1840-ies. The attention is paid to the problems of recruitment, and the study of everyday service of soldiers and officers. There are used the materials of the regional and local archives, namely the State archive of the Krasnodar Krai and the Archival department of administration of Sochi city (Russian Federation), as well as sources of a personal origin (memoirs). The work is widely used the pre-revolutionary, soviet and modern russian literature. The study methods are the principles of objectivity, historicism, systematic, integrated consideration of socio-subjective in the subject of study. In conclusion, the authors note that despite of the difficulties of manning the army units in the Caucasus (the flight of the soldiers, crimes, etc.) the military situation and competent management of units, and equally significant terms of service allowed to melt antisocial composition of the number of recruits into combat-ready joint. Russian officers played a significant role in the training and re-recruiting of the masses.
